Gyms in England could re-open from "mid July", the government said today - moments after they were left out of a huge list of lockdown changes.
Indoor gyms and leisure facilities were among the venues told to stay shut when a raft of businesses, including pubs, hotels and B&Bs, reopen from July 4.
Boris Johnson also announced soft play centres, nightclubs, bowling alleys, nail bars and swimming pools must stay shut from July 4.
Government sources said gyms carried a “far greater risk of infection” due to people breathing harder and touching surfaces.
