It’s been an explosive time in the world of television. This week, Philip Schofield made his shock return in a three-part reality show Cast Away, after stepping down from his This Morning job last May, following an affair with a young runner on the show and being basically cast into the showbiz wilderness. The Channel 5 programme saw a straggly, bearded Phil not only grapple with survival on a desert island off Madagascar alone for 10 days as he attempted to revive his battered TV career, but deliver some rather scathing put-downs to thinly-veiled targets in the TV industry, while he was at it.

One of those targets, it seems highly likely, was his former colleague Holly, whose long-standing relationship with her former This Morning host - who he had worked side by side for 14 years - all but disintegrated following the shock scandal last year.

But they do say revenge is a dish best served cold and Holly, rather than post any furious reaction on social media to Phillip’s comments, has maintained a dignified silence throughout his headline-grabbing comeback.

And now, a source tells that Holly’s stance towards her former colleague has always been to remain as "respectful as possible - even though she was the one left to ‘pick up the pieces and deal with the fallout”’.They claim, “She was very hurt and betrayed by him as she felt he had lied to her but she has never really slated him - so for him to make thinly-veiled attacks on his new show was a real low. “She didn’t deserve that and she thought that after all she has been through in the past 18 months, that he might be a bit more understanding.
