Indian Railways decided to stop plying its passengers train services on 22 March till 14 April across its entire network amidst rising cases of Covid-19.
The decision was taken after the 21 days nationwide lockdown declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prevent spread of coronavirus in the country .
However the freight operations of the national transporter continues to function as it helps in maintaining the supply of essential products in different parts of the country in this difficult time.
Indian Railways in its sustained efforts to fight against the coronavirus has conitued its loading and unloading of essential commodities like fertilizer and petroleum products.
