NEW DELHI : In the wake of the lockdown imposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Wednesday, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, the Union home ministry has said that all foreign nationals currently stuck in India will be given the opportunity to extend their e-visa.
In a notification issued by the ministry’s Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) the Centre has asked all foreigners caught in India because of travel restrictions and suspension of flights amid the lockdown, to apply for visa extensions online, for which the ministry has said the fee will be waived off.
The directive comes as several tourists who are now stranded in the country, have been unable to return to the native countries due to the closure of flights
