ITV has confirmed that Emmerdale will remain on the air despite lockdown halting filming of the soap. The most exciting part of the announcement was that new episodes would be coming out sooner than we expected.
The soap can resume filming full-time after they began the phased return of the soap. Six special lockdown episodes are the first new material to be made within strict safety and social distancing guidelines now in place at the Leeds studios.
To be able to remain on the air, ITV confirmed the beloved soap will move from airing three times a week to two, from Monday 8 June.
For three weeks the soap will air on Mondays and Wednesdays. IMPORTANT UPDATE: #Emmerdale will remain on air and continue to broadcast new episodes.
