Jimmy Greaves spent a “comfortable” night in hospital on Tuesday, as revealed by the 80-year-old’s family. Greaves, who won the World Cup with England in 1966, suffered a severe stroke in 2015 and former club Tottenham released a statement on Tuesday confirming the ex-Chelsea star was in hospital.
Greaves was a long time columnist for the Daily Star’s sister paper the Sunday People and the family have told us this morning that he spent a "comfortable" night in hospital and is awaiting further tests.
The England legend’s illness is not coronavirus related. Greaves is fourth on the list of all-time England goalscorers having netted 44 goals in just 57 games.
