It was last held in 2019, but next weekend, Manchester Moon Festival will return for three days of celebrations. Taking place in China Town between 22-24 September, the event, also known as Mid-Autumn Festival or Mooncake Festival is one of the biggest holidays in China and is marked with family reunions, parades and lantern making.
Here in Manchester, the free-to-attend event will encompass a host of activities, including the infamous Chinese Lion Dancing where visitors can take part as a Lion Dancer and admire the art and craftmanship up close. There will also be the chance to spot the festival's mascot, Moon-Caky, who will we strolling around China Town. And of course, festivities such as this wouldn't be a true celebration without the food and drink.
Fortunately, there will be a cuisine alley for visitors to sample some delish delicacies including the traditional Chinese moon cakes.
