Kate Garraway fought back tears during a tense clash with the Health Secretary Steve Barclay over social care. The Good Morning Britain presenter, 56, has been tirelessly caring for her husband Derek Draper since he was struck down with Covid-19 in March 2020 and requires round-the-clock care.
Kate quizzed the Tory MP and explained that she has repeatedly tried to arrange a meeting with him, which he claimed he was unaware of.
Kate explained how she and millions of others in the UK feel like they are 'holding the life of their loved one' in one hand and 'just punching and punching away at a system' in the other.
During the tense confrontation, Kate admitted she was trying not to cry during the segment as she grilled the MP. Appearing on the show on Thursday, hosts Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid handed over to Kate, who said: "I don't want to ambush you on air, but I have been trying to contact you and I have been trying to contact Helen Whately as well and I haven't been able to.
