IT’S the MasterChef final this week but it won’t just be the runners-up who leave empty-handed. The winning contestant will be revealed on the BBC1 show on Friday night, with the series having actually been filmed earlier this year.
But show bosses did not present the coveted trophy at the time before the lockdown came into effect as they usually wait until the winner does their first TV interview the day after the final is broadcast.
So the prized possession is still under lock and key in the MasterChef studios and will not be awarded until lockdown is over.
A telly source said: “It’s a real shame that crew weren’t able to pick up the accolade in advance as, for the winner, the trophy is the celebration. “Because the series is pre-recorded.
