Britain’s test for coronavirus wrongly tells some people they do not have it, leaked documents claim. Laboratories using the Public Health England test are advised to be careful before identifying a patient as negative and to re-test if they are unsure.
The document from the National Infection Service (NIS) is revealed as the Government is way behind on its promise to test 100,000 people a day by the end of the month.
Its re-testing advice appears to explain why, as of today, 18,206 daily tests were being carried out - but just 11,626 people were being tested.
