Terrifying footage has shown a huge four-metre-long shark lurking in the waters off the coast of a Spanish resort. The monster creature was filmed thrashing its tail fin in the sea off Calahonda Beach in the province of Granada, Andalusia.

In the haunting video, the ominous fin can be seen travelling through the water and approaching several boats. A kayaker was in the sea when the shark first appeared, but no incidents were reported.

It is thought that the absence of beachgoers and the reduction of boat traffic during the coronavirus lockdown has seen marine animals such as the shark return to the coast.

While it is not clear exactly what species of shark was caught on camera, the sheer size of it could suggest it is a basking shark.
