An MP has refused to claim an extra £10,000 coronavirus home working expenses being handed to Westminster politicians.Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock MP Allan Dorans said people are making great sacrifices during the pandemic and he will not accept the money.The former Met Detective Inspector intends to cover costs from his existing office budget instead.He has bought his four staff laptops each to carry out their duties from home.
There has been a backlash against MP offices getting the extra cash for IT equipment as many people are facing financial hardship during the Covid-19 crisis.
The £10,000 amount, which has recently been made available, comes on top of the £26,000 MPs can claim to cover office costs currently.
