The government’s new NHS ‘test and trace’ system is to come into force nationally tomorrow (Friday), aimed at ensuring anyone with Covid symptoms - or anyone they have been in contact with - goes into immediate quarantine.
More than 40,000 people have been hired to set up the system, which will initially include a phone bank, but not an app. Anyone with Covid-like symptoms will be asked to self-isolate as previously and to order a test through the NHS website, or by calling 119.
