New Covid-19 variant spreads across UK as cases and hospitalisations rise

Health experts are warning of a rise in Covid-19 cases - and hospitalisations - as a new variant sweeps the UK. There has been a rise in Covid-19 cases and a 'small rise in hospital admission rates in most age groups, particularly among the elderly', the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has confirmed.

The health chiefs have issued key advice on what to do to keep safe from coronavirus and how to stop it passing onto others if you're unwell.

The warnings come as a new variant has taken hold in the UK.
