Campaigners believe reopening Kirkcudbright Hospital could help ease some of the pressures on the region’s health and social care system.
At this month’s health board meeting, it emerged accident and emergency departments were under severe pressure with delayed discharge levels “stubbornly high”.
And director of public health Valerie White’s annual report revealed concerns over the pressure the region’s aging population would have on NHS Dumfries and Galloway.
That has led to Save Kirkcudbright Hospital Action Group once again calling for the facility – mothballed in 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic – being reopened.
