Yet, a doctor has highlighted five symptoms that shouldn't be ignored and should prompt a medical check-up. Taking to TikTok, Dr Khan outlined the warning signs that merit a visit to your GP.
His video has amassed over 1.7 million views, where he advises: "Here are five things I definitely want to see you for as a GP." Dr Khan, who works in the NHS, emphasised the importance of getting checked if you frequently feel like food or drink is lodged in your throat.
He explained: "This is called dysphasia. It can sometimes cause coughing, choking or vomiting. Now there are several different causes, but we need to rule out a cancer of the food pipe or the upper parts of the digestive tract." He also mentioned mouth-related concerns, saying: "An unexplained mouth ulcer that has been there for three weeks or more.
