An army of 21,000 volunteers has answered a call to help communities struggling with coronavirus all over Scotland. Nicola Sturgeon thanked medical students, former health staff and ordinary members of the public for signing up on the first day of a new nationwide campaign.
The Scotland Cares drive, launched on Monday morning, is being co-ordinated by the British Red Cross to help those in need during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sturgeon said: “I want to thank each and every person who has registered an interest in the Scotland Cares campaign - the offer of support at this critical time is invaluable.
