A national drive to recruit Scots volunteers amid the coronavirus crisis has been launched today. Radio and newspaper adverts, from the Scottish Government, will urge the public to sign up for the Scotland Cares programme co-ordinated by the British Red Cross.
The aim is to support organisations fighting the Covid-19 outbreak. Volunteering will only involve leaving your house once a day.People who fall under the health risk categories or are already self-isolating cannot sign up.First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told the Press Association: "We know there are a huge number of people who are already volunteering and many more with a desire to help their communities, public services and voluntary organisations.
