Car giant Nissan warns its Sunderland plant could shut without an EU trade deal. The firm’s chief operating officer Ashwani Gupta said: “If we are not getting the current tariffs the business will not be sustainable.” Nissan had said the plant, which employs 7,000, remains “important” to its plans after announcing its facility in Barcelona would close.
