Shortly before 1 p.m., the New Jersey Forest Fire Service alerted that crews were responding to an active wildfire off Route 539.
After hours of battling the flames, fire officials begun a backfiring operation to aid in containment as the fire quickly spread and threatened 16 nearby structures.
Local volunteer fire companies are on scene providing structure support as the fire fully engulfs several dozen acres of land.As of 3 p.m., the New Jersey Forest Fire Service alerted that the fire is still rapidly spreading and is not at all contained.
