The National Public Health Emergency Team is meeting to review the latest data on Covid-19 in Ireland and to advise the Government.
Yesterday, the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan offered a largely positive outlook and said they were cautiously optimistic.
Dr Holohan said Ireland is on track to proceed with the full lifting of Covid-19 restrictions next month. NPHET has said that the total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in hospital has begun to reduce and the total number of confirmed cases in ICU has stabilised.
There also continues to be low mortality relative to the number of Covid-19 cases. NPHET will also study a number of reports from the Health Information and Quality Authority, including on whether masks should be worn
