SAN MARCOS, Texas - A Texas State student from Haiti is making headlines after his mission to adopt a baby he found in the trash back home went viral. Jimmy Amisial, 27, attended Texas State University as a communications major. In 2017, he went home to Haiti to visit family for the new year. MORE FINDING FAMILIESThat's where he found now-4-year-old Emilio Angel Jeremiah, just four months old at the time, abandoned in a pile of trash. "You could see him crying, and he had no clothes on, and he had fire ants crawling all over him," Amisial explained. He says because of Haitian superstitions a group of people surrounding the baby were too afraid to rescue him. "No one wanted to touch the baby because they thought the baby was cursed, they were like it's New Year's Eve, the devil is trying to get us," said Amisial. MORE HOUSTON-AREA NEWSHowever, Amisial, who often volunteers at orphanages, in Haiti said he didn't hesitate to pick the baby up and take him home. Haitian officers and a judge came to his family home, and they asked Amisial, just 22 years old and a college student, if he wanted to become the baby's legal guardian."Even though I didn't know how I was going to take care of him I took a leap of faith by saying yes," Amisial said. Since taking on the responsibility, Amisial has struggled financially.

PHILADELPHIA - Residents in a Philadelphia neighborhood made a frightening discovery Monday afternoon when a oil large drum and smaller buckets were found in a vacant lot between two properties. Emergency crews responded to the 2500 block of West Oxford Street around 5:30 p.m. SkyFOX captured men in hazmat suits investigating the scene and eventually removed the items. Crews soon learned that the drums were filled with heating oil, but it was no less concerning for the residents of the adjacent properties. "It concerned me because I thought that if someone lit a cigarette or match it would just go up in flames," Brittany Blackwell told FOX 29's Shawnette Wilson. Blackwell says she spotted the drums and trash bags a few days ago and called 911 after getting a closer look."They were filled to the brim with what I thought was gasoline," Blackwell said.

PHILADELPHIA - They look mean, they sound mean, they even have an alarming name, but experts say Cicada Killers aren't as aggressive as they might seem. The massive wasp-like insects are commonly seen buzzing around rural areas during the summer months, causing one man to describe them "like a wasp on steroids." The females look the most daunting with large wings and a thick black body. HATBORO, Pa. - The wife of a former Hatboro K9 officer is readjusting to life after the passing of her husband, who suffered a severe reaction to a bee sting which resulted in a brain injury and a heart attack. Everything about the family's life changed in October 2021, when 35-year-old Ryan Allen was stung by a bee. His wife Whitney called 911 as Ryan tried to get some fresh air, but he lost consciousness on their porch after suffering from cardiac arrest. Ryan was first rushed to Doylestown Hospital before being flown to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. After being in the hospital for months, a procession full of his fellow officers led him from a rehabilitation center to his home for hospice care. A procession lead Hatboro K9 officer Ryan Allen from a rehab to hospice care months after he suffered complications from a reaction to a bee sting.Weeks later, Allen died, leaving behind his wife, their two sons, four-year-old Jackson and seven-month-old Leo and his K9 partner Louie. According to the Hatboro Police Department, Allen worked his way to K9 handler after joining the police force in 2013. He served as a patrol officer and a member of the Montgomery County Drug Task Force.
