Coronavirus will not be eradicated or disappear and we must accept it will exist globally for the foreseeable future, the UK's chief scientific advisor warned.
Professor Chris Whitty told today's press conference disruptive social measures would have to remain in place until a vaccine or effective drugs to treat coronavirus can be found, which he warned was unlikely to happen this year.
