Pensioner rushed to hospital after Renfrewshire four-car smash

A pensioner was rushed to hospital on Monday afternoon following a four-vehicle crash in Renfrewshire. The collision happened around 3.40pm on Bridge of Weir Road in Johnstone.

A 27-year-old man is now the subject of a report that has been sent to the procurator fiscal in relation to road traffic offences.Police were called to the scene alongside their Scottish Ambulance service colleagues who tended to a 77-year-old man involved in the incident.He was subsequently transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to injuries he sustained as a result of the smash.The road was closed for an extensive period while recovery of the vehicles was arranged.
