Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

It is hard to believe that it has been seven weeks since Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper was admitted to hospital after contracting Covid-19.

Updates about his condition have been given by both Kate and her Good Morning Britain colleagues to keep concerned viewers informed.

However, Piers Morgan has shared the most recent update where he explained that the 52-year-old is still very much ‘fighting for his life,’ in intensive care.

Derek was admitted to hospital with COVID-19 on 30 March and has since been put on a ventilator as he continues to be in an unresponsive critical condition.
