Police break up football match with threat of fines for ignoring lockdown

An adult football match was put to a stop by Police Community Support Officers who warned the group they would be fined for breaking coronavirus measures.

The group of men were kicking the ball around in Hull, near a primary school, on Sunday. Officers wearing body cameras approached the group to remind them of the social distancing measures that are preventing people from different households from meeting in order to curb the spread of the virus, Hull Live reports.

They said they had warned them that they would be fined using the new powers afforded to police to enforce the lockdown under the new coronavirus law if they returned.
