Police in Durham have said Dominic Cummings WAS spoken to by officers - despite an earlier denial from Downing Street. Number 10 faces calls to sack the aide after he twice travelled from London to the North East.
Cummings has maintained he was not spoken to by officers after making the first 260 mile trip with his wife and four-year-old child.
But in a fresh statement this evening, Durham Constabulary doubled down - and emphatically said he was. They said officers made contact by phone at the request of Cummings' father.
The police statement came just hours after Transport Minister Grant Shapps defended the controversial adviser, and said he did not know why there was any confusion over police involvement.
