There have been renewed appeals for people to adhere to public health guidelines to help stop the spread of Covid-19. Yesterday evening, the Department of Health reported three further deaths from coronavirus and 1,012 cases were confirmed, which was the highest daily figure since mid-April.
All of the cases had been notified within a 24 hour period. Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said all of the important indicators of the disease are deteriorating.
Concerns are also being raised about the number of hospitalisations. As of 8pm last night there were 198 patients being treated, of which 30 were in intensive care units.
