Around 600 pubs in Northern Ireland that do not serve food, so-called 'wet pubs', can open from today for the first time since Covid-19 restrictions were introduced in March.
Until now only pubs could only open their doors if they also sold food, or had outdoor areas. There will be table service only, with a maximum of six people from any number of households allowed to be seated at a table together.
More than six people can sit together if they are from the same household. Customers should wear face coverings while entering and leave the premises and moving around inside, but not while seated at their table.
But those pubs that choose to open could soon have to close their doors earlier than usual. The Stormont Executive will meet tomorrow
