Rod Stewart said "my days are numbered" before cancelling his Las Vegas show.The legendary singer was due to perform his The Hits show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on 7 August, following dozens of shows at the same venue across the last 13 years.
Rod, 79, withdrew hours before the show - which was set be his 200th and final gig at The Colosseum. He said he was "desperately sorry" in an emotional statement issued to fans. "Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me.
I'm absolutely gutted. I've been looking forward to this concert for so long," Rod said. "My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused.Thankfully we'll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there." Rod's cancellation comes just after he opened up about his health as his approaches his 80th birthday.The singer spoke openly last month, admitting he felt his "days are numbered", but is determined to live his life to the fullest.
Rod, who has previously battled cancer, said he hopes to live another 15 years but admitted he doesn't have the stamina to keep up with the rock-and-roll lifestyle like he used to.
