Salford's children's play parks to close amid new coronavirus measures

Children’s play parks in Salford are to close as the council introduces tougher measures in an attempt to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Salford council is the latest borough in Greater Manchester to shut children’s playgrounds in a bid to enforce social distancing rules.

Manchester, Wigan, Bolton and Bury have also closed children’s play areas. Salford council confirmed to the Local Democracy Reporting Service this morning that it would be introducing the new measures.

They added that parks in the city would remain open for ‘exercise only’. The move comes after residents across the country were seen ignoring the government’s calls to social distance over the weekend.
