Seven Irish citizens are being repatriated from Algeria in North Africa into Shannon Airport later this evening, following an agreement to get them home between the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the US State Department.
The US embassy in Algiers had chartered a special flight to bring US citizens home from the country leaving today. The Omni Air flight is bound for Washington but will make a refuelling stop at Shannon Airport at around 5pm.
Seats were made available for seven Irish citizens on the flight following an agreement between the US State Department and the Department of Foreign Affairs, who had identified a number of Irish citizens in the country who needed to get back home.
