Sir Keir Starmer set for first PMQs as leader as up to 120 MPs join over webcam

Sir Keir Starmer will make his Prime Minister’s Questions debut as Labour leader tomorrow. The pandemic means he will be one of just 50 MPs in the Commons with up to 120 joining via Zoom.

And he will tackle First Secretary Dominic Raab instead of the PM as Boris Johnson continues his recovery from Covid-19. A Labour source said: “Raab is acting PM, so this isn’t a usual situation.

It’s more important than ever Labour… hold the Government to account.” Hazard tape was on floors for social distancing as a handful of MPs returned to Westminster yesterday after Easter.

Under proposals drawn up by the House authorities, MPs will be able to contribute to proceedings at Westminster - including questioning ministers - through video links.
