Boris Johnson will take paternity leave after the birth of his son - but only later this year, No10 confirmed today. The Prime Minister will stay at work during the coronavirus crisis despite wanting to take time off to spend with his and Carrie Symonds' baby.
The "delighted" 55-year-old was by his 32-year-old fiancée's side this morning when she gave birth in an unnamed NHS hospital in London.
He missed PMQs as he prepares for his son to move into the flat above 11 Downing Street - where he already lives with Ms Symonds.
But as deaths continue to rise from coronavirus the Tory leader was already back in Downing Street by lunchtime - and held a 1.30pm call with Labour leader Keir Starmer about Covid-19.
