Six drugs which potentially save the lives of coronavirus patients have entered clinical testing, it has tonight emerged. Thousands of people could benefit from the potential treatments, which are hoped will also ease the strain on the NHS.
Covid-19 has killed more than 21,700 people in the UK already and infected some 157,000 others. These figures are thought to be even higher as they don't, as of yet, include cases at care homes. "Currently no drugs in the world have been clinically proven to treat Covid-19, but our Therapeutics Taskforce has identified a number of promising candidates," Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock said today. "Currently, six different treatments have been entered into national clinical trials and the
