Six drugs which potentially save the lives of coronavirus patients have entered clinical testing, it has tonight emerged. Thousands of people could benefit from the potential treatments, which are hoped will also ease the strain on the NHS.

Covid-19 has killed more than 21,700 people in the UK already and infected some 157,000 others. These figures are thought to be even higher as they don't, as of yet, include cases at care homes.
