Boris Johnson has ordered a UK-wide lockdown of the population in their homes in a desperate bid to halt the spread of coronavirus.With the number of Scottish deaths rising to 14 and the UK total at 335, a sixfold increase in a week, the Prime Minister addressed the nation on television on Monday night to announce the tough new measures that are in line with many other European countries.Johnson has been accused of dithering and faced a mutiny from his Tory cabinet colleagues if he did not move to force people to stay at home after a weekend when government advice on social distancing was widely ignored.
