Police in Yorkshire have announced that they will use checkpoint to stop vehicles and ask drivers if their journey as an essential one.
This comes after the Prime Minister announced on Monday that the UK was to be in lockdown for a minimum of three weeks in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus.
Boris Johnson ordered the public to stay home under the strict new measures and only leave the house for a few specific reasons.
This includes only 'essential' travel. Officers from North Yorkshire Police will now ask motorists where they are going, why they are going there, and reminding them of the message to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.
