Prime Minister Mark Rutte has all but blown the whistle on football returning in Holland – but Germany hope to be back next month.
Rutte confirmed that there would be no mass gatherings in the country until September 1st, after it was extended from the original deadline of next month because of the coronavirus crisis.
It means the Eredivisie and their lower leagues are in a quandary as the outstanding fixtures are now likely to be played and a call will have to be made on their seasons.Rutte, speaking about football and various Dutch festivals, said: "We will certainly not be able to handle the risks in the coming months, and we want to provide organisers with clarity.“That means no Pinkpop, Zwarte Cross and no paid professional football
