A thief given a chance by a judge after he burgled a shop was caught breaking into the same store - 12 days after he appeared in court.

Kieran Maloney, 23, was given a suspended sentence for breaking into the Cos clothing store in St Ann's Square in October last year.

He appeared at Manchester Crown Court on March 19. Then, at around 1am on March 31, Maloney - accompanied by Rhys Clarke, 26 - stole around £20,000-worth of clothes from the same shop.

Clarke kicked in the glass doors. A judge said that burglary happened when 'stores were particularly vulnerable' during the coronavirus lockdown.
