UK hospital death toll rises by 106 in lowest Sunday increase since lockdown began

The UK's official coronavirus hospital death toll has risen to 30,842 after 106 deaths were reported in 24 hours. The latest figures were issued this afternoon, and count the hospital toll only.

England reported 85 new deaths, Scotland had nine, Wales recorded 11 and Northern Ireland had one. The lowest Sunday total since the lockdown began was 114 on May 17.

The full figures from across all settings, including care homes, will be released in this evening's daily Downing Street Covid-19 news briefing.

Sunday's daily rise is down from 183 on Saturday, and 177 on Friday, 213 on Thursday and 209 on Wednesday. It is also down from last Sunday's rise of 164 on May 24, and 114 on May 17.
