Britain's coronavirus death toll has increased to 6,236 after 854 more patients died in the biggest day-on-day increase yet.
The previous total stood at 5,373. The Department of Health will release its official death toll later (deaths as of 5pm on Monday), but the total will be lower than 6,236 because new deaths have occurred since Monday's reporting deadline.
England has recorded the most deaths (5,655), followed by Scotland (296), Wales (212) and Northern Ireland (73). The figures do not include out-of-hospital deaths in places such as private homes, care homes or hospices.
