Brits are set to buffeted by heavy rain today as more overcast and cool weather is forecast nationwide. But temperatures are set to rise with the rain fading away from the weekend onwards, putting barbecues and picnics back on the agenda.
The worst of the rain today will hit western Scotland, Wales and parts of the Midlands, according to the Met Office. There will also be a 50% chance of rain in London and the south east for much of the day.
Netweather forecasts say a low pressure system will lead to a “showery picture by midweek”, along with the risk of “heavy thundery downpours”.
But, latest Met Office forecasts show temperatures climbing into the 20s from the weekend. Some forecasters say temperatures could even climb as high as 26C
