CAMDEN, N.J. - A New Jersey man is facing charges in a deadly crash that killed a Pennsylvania school principal and injured his young son last fall in Camden County. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday charged 54-year-old Azuka Ossai with vehicular homicide and a fourth-degree count of assault by auto in the Nov. 13 crash that killed 51-year-old Sean Hughes. Hughes, who spent more than a decade as an educator in the Lower Merion School District, was the principal of Lower Merion High School.Hughes and his young son were on their way to a soccer game in Windslow Township when investigators believe Ossai sped through a stop sign at the intersection of Fleming Pike and Hays Road and slammed into Hughes' Ford SUV. Hughes suffered serious injuries and died later that morning, prosecutors said.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police have released new video of a shooting that left a man injured in North Philadelphia earlier this week. The shooting occurred on the 2200 block of West Berks Street around 1:20 p.m.

ELSMERE, Del. - Police in Delaware have arrested three juveniles in connection with a stolen car, including a 12-year-old boy they believe is connected to two other incidents.On Tuesday, police in Elsmere, Delaware received a report of a vehicle theft. Officers later located the vehicle in New Castle. When officers attempted to make contact the occupants, the driver fled.

PHILADELPHIA - A man is in critical condition after an apparent shootout between two men in Kingsessing late Wednesday night. The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on the 5500 block of Greenway Avenue. Police say a 37-year-old man was arriving home when he spotted a suspicious 44-year-old man walking down the steps of his property. The two men were then engaged in a confrontation that escalated to gunfire, with both men firing shots at each other. MORE HEADLINES: The 44-year-old man later showed up at Frankford Hospital with gunshot wounds to the shoulder and foot.

PHILADELPHIA - A suspect is in custody after police say a man was shot and killed inside an apartment in West Philadelphia. The incident occurred on the 4800 block of Springfield Avenue shortly after 11:10 p.m. Wednesday night. Officers responded to the scene for a report of gunshots and found an unresponsive 62-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck in a second-floor bedroom. Paramedics rushed him to Presbyterian Hospital where he died a short time later. MORE HEADLINES: Police say the suspect, a 26-year-old man, remained on the scene and was cooperating with investigators.

DARBY TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Nearly a month after the Briarcliffe Fire Company was suspended for the alleged use of racial slurs on a recent virtual meeting, community members gathered to discuss the future of the department. The Darby Township Board of Commissioners on Wednesday held a special meeting that included many vocal community members who said they no longer trust the department. There was a call to remove the department's certification, but the board decided that they will not make any final decision until the District Attorney's Office is done with its investigation.Briarcliffe Fire Company was suspended after a Jan. 27 virtual meeting between township fire companies and commissioners about a potential consolidation. According to a letter from the Goodwill Fire Company obtained by FOX 29, following the end of the meeting, a group of people remained on the call. The letter says there was then a group of people that could be heard discussing the meeting using foul language, and identifies those involved in the conversation as members of the Briarcliffe Fire Company. A Delaware County fire company has been suspended for 30 days after members of the company allegedly uttered racist and derogatory comments following a virtual meeting late last month.The conversation, which lasted an hour and 45 minutes, allegedly included racial slurs when discussing members of other fire companies and township residents.One of the Briarcliffe Fire Company members was also accused of making a joke about, Fanta Bility, a young girl who was killed in a shooting in Sharon Hill last fall."It’s outright racism,", NAACP Local Chapter President Sheila Carter said.

WASHINGTON (AP) - With gas prices at record highs across the U.S., an increasing number of governors and state lawmakers are calling for the suspension of gas taxes to provide relief to motorists who are facing the prospect of even higher pump prices as the country cuts off Russian oil imports.Proposals for a "gas tax holiday" to counter inflation had been moving slowly in Congress and state capitols before Russia invaded Ukraine, but they have gained momentum this week amid surging prices that averaged $4.25 a gallon on Wednesday, according to AAA.Republican legislative leaders in Michigan and Pennsylvania announced proposals Wednesday to suspend or reduce state gas taxes. That came after the Republican governor of Georgia and Democratic governor of California both called for relief from state gas taxes Tuesday, when President Joe Biden ordered a ban on Russian oil imports.Meanwhile, the Democratic governors of Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin sent a joint letter to congressional leaders urging them to support legislation suspending the federal government's 18.4-cent-a-gallon gas tax through 2022.Critics of the proposals say there is no guarantee the savings would get passed on to consumers and worry that suspending gas taxes could hurt funding for road projects.

STRATFORD, N.J. - Three people are facing charges after a Camden County teenager was found with a dog shock collar around her neck, according to Stratford police. Authorities say the 13-year-old girl's neighbor reported the incident on March 1. When officers responded, they observed markings on the teen's neck consistent with wearing the collar, police say. The teen was transported to Jefferson Hospital while detectives interviewed her family, police say. She told detectives that a relative put the collar around her neck and shocked her multiple times before, police say. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES The New Jersey Department of Child Protection and Permanency removed the teen from the Camden County home after she was released from the hospital, according to authorities. Police say the teen's guardian said she did not know about the shock collar or that the teen ran away to the neighbor's house.During a forensic interview, the teen told detectives a relative first used the dog shock collar on her when she was nine, police say. According to authorities, the teen also told detectives the shock collar was sometimes used as a form of punishment and that she was deprived of food and clothing at times. Police say a witness who also lives at the same residence said they observed the shock collar used as a form of punishment and saw the teen be deprived of amenities numerous times. Three of the teen's relatives face several charges, including aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Stratford Police.

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Katz Jewish Community Center in Cherry Hill closed Wednesday morning after several security incidents. On Tuesday at 8:40 a.m., police and the FBI responded to the center for the report of a bomb threat, authorities say. Cherry Hill police say the building was evacuated and no explosives were found. The facility reopened at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday. "Safety and security of our children and other members are our primary concern," said Oded Kraus the Director of Katz JCC.
