The coronavirus pandemic nd subsequent lockdown across the UK has led to a sharp rise in employees working from home, unable to work or placed on furlough leave. But what exactly does furlough mean? Workers placed on furlough will receive 80 per cent of their salary up to £2,500 per month, with all employers in the UK able to apply to HMRC to pay the wages of people who are furloughed.
The UK Government website states: "If your employer intends to access the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, they will discuss with you becoming classified as a furloughed worker. “This would mean that you are kept on your employer’s payroll, rather than being laid off.
