The UK government has promised to carry out 100,000 coronavirus tests a day by the end of April. Health Secretary Matt Hancock has previously been criticised for not increasing testing quicker, as it means we do not know how widespread COVID-19 actually is.
Widespread testing will be key to lifting the UK's lock down, as preventing a second peak of the disease will involve being able to test people with symptoms, and then trace everyone that they've been in contact with.
