Police in Crowley, Louisiana apologised to residents after they used the siren from horror movie The Purge to signal a curfew had begun amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Due to the spread of coronavirus, people living in the city have been told not to leave their houses after 9pm until 6am the following morning.

Police had driven around the city’s Acadia Parish playing the siren noise to tell people the curfew had begun, but have since apologised, with the police chief saying he didn’t know the noise was from the movie’s and won’t be using it again.

Understandably, some residents were freaked out to hear the noise ring through their neighbourhood, while others didn’t know the significance of the siren as opposed to another.
