Why Manchester United players were at Carrington on Sunday

Manchester United players returned to Carrington individually on Sunday, spending around 15 minutes at the club's training ground before leaving.

The United squad are due to resume training in small groups this week ahead of the Premier League's planned resumption of competitive action in June.

On Sunday each player and first-team staff member was given a time slot to arrive at Carrington, where a drive-thru COVID-19 testing facility was installed last week.

It is understood those arriving were tested ahead of the expected return to the training ground in groups this week. United's players have been keeping fit ahead of their return to the training ground, with some working out in public parks after the restrictions on outdoor exercise
