Just days before, Brian had shared a moving 16-minute farewell video with his fans, where he confessed: "We really thought we could beat this." Brian was well-known and loved in the wildlife community for his enthusiastic videos about tropical animals.

His obituary praised his "passionate love for reptiles and wildlife, along with his unwavering commitment to education".
