A Place In The Sun's Jean Johansson has opened up about her recent diagnosis of presbyopia, a condition that causes a gradual loss of the eyes' ability to focus on nearby objects. The 42 year old presenter admitted she had ignored signs of deteriorating eyesight for years before finally getting an eye examination.
Speaking about the impact of her diagnosis, Jean revealed that getting a diagnosis had been "life-changing" and expressed her confusion over why it took her so long to seek answers. "I'm not entirely sure why it took me so long to admit I needed glasses," she added, attributing part of her reluctance to accepting the ageing process and the inevitable deterioration of vision that comes with it.
Jean is now embracing her new specs, saying they've opened up a "enjoying a whole new world of not having to squint" when reading scripts or using her phone, reports Coventry Live.
Writing in her Sunday Mail column, she said: "I'm [also] no longer stealing my mum's glasses to read a menu in a restaurant." While she joked that she might not join Jennifer Aniston and Rihanna as one of the world's sexiest spec wearers, she loves her new frames and thinks they look great.
