Teaching union warns members 'not to engage' with plans to reopen schools amid lockdown

A teaching union has advised its members against 'engaging' in plans to reopen schools amid safety concerns. In an email seen by Mirror Online, the National Education Union (NEU) warns teachers that the Government has not addressed its concerns over PPE, social distancing, testing or vulnerable staff.

It also backed the British Medical Association's (BMA) conclusion that Boris Johnson's lockdown exit strategy is 'too fast, too confusing and too risky'.

On Sunday evening, the Prime Minister unveiled plans to reopen schools from June 1, sparking fears among parents that their children could be put at risk.
